Facelift

Conveniently located to serve Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Tucson

mini face liftIf you have developed facial and neck wrinkles, deep creases between the base of your nose and the corners of your mouth (frequently referred to as “parentheses”), or the appearance of jowls, a facelift in Scottsdale can help turn back the clock. These wrinkles form as a result of gravity and the loss of facial skin elasticity and muscle tone that comes with the aging process.

Dr. White prides herself on exceptional facelift results in the state-of-the-art Piper Outpatient Surgical Facility. Dr. White carefully and skillfully creates a more rested and youthful contour to the face and neck, with results that range from subtle to dramatic, depending upon your personal preferences.

What Is a Facelift?

A facelift, also referred to as a rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that involves tightening of the underlying facial tissues. It is performed to smooth away wrinkles and reduce skin laxity for a rejuvenated look. This cosmetic procedure not only targets the face, it also tightens the neck by getting rid of sagging skin. It can also be performed with a brow lift and/or eye lift for even more comprehensive benefits.

Ideal Candidates

You are an ideal candidate for facelift surgery if you are in good overall health and have no underlying conditions that could impair healing. It is best to be a non-smoker, since tobacco use can increase the risk of complications after surgery.

You are eligible to undergo a facelift if you have moderate signs of aging but still have a good degree of skin elasticity. You should also have realistic expectations for the outcome of your surgery.

Your Consultation

Discuss your cosmetic goals and desired results with Dr. Deborah White during your consultation. An examination of your face will be performed, and the integrity of your skin will be assessed. Measurements of your face will be taken, along with photographs for before-and-after comparison.

Your medical history will be reviewed, including pre-existing conditions and any current medications or supplements. Finally, Dr. White will create a personalized surgical plan for you.

Facelift Procedure Information

Facelifts vary in size from mini to standard, depending on location and extent of skin laxity. The mini facelift concentrates on the lower face and upper neck only. The full facelift improves the lower face and entire neck for those with more excess skin on the neck.

The facelift, or rhytidectomy, operation is done under general anesthesia with an overnight stay in a private room at the Virginia Piper Outpatient Surgery Facility. Incisions are typically made within the hairline (or along the hair margin) above the ear, extending down around the lobe and ending in or below the hairline behind the ear. The subcutaneous layers and neck muscles are then tightened, the facial skin is redraped and lifted, and the excess skin is removed.

Facelift Recovery

After rhytidectomy surgery, you remain overnight for maximum comfort and observation by highly skilled professional nurses. Dr. White will see you the following morning and place you in a lighter dressing. Minimal initial discomfort after you are discharged is easily controlled with oral medication. Sutures are removed within 7 days. Bruising and swelling decrease to “socially acceptable” levels in 10 to 20 days.

The results of a facelift procedures are evident in 4 to 6 weeks or sooner, with continued improvement to the final result several months. The very final results of your facelift surgery are not seen until 6 months or even a year, as the expectedly resolution of numbness and last traces of swelling are completed.

Complementary Plastic Surgery Procedures

Additional procedures that would enhance the result of a facelift are Eyelid Lift or Brow Lift. Find out more about your options for complementary procedures during a consultation with Dr. White.

Facelift Cost

A facelift is considered cosmetic and is therefore not covered by insurance. The price of this facial plastic surgery procedure is determined based on the details of each case. The techniques utilized, the amount of time needed to perform the procedure, and the type of anesthesia chosen all help to determine facelift cost.
